Hola colegas Robert de Cesaris , el "jefe" de la Oughtred Society ha publicado un artículo sobre la historia de las reglas de cálculo en una revista americana. Dicha revista contiene otro interesante artículo sobre el mismo tema. I do not believe that many of the members on our Oughtred Society distribution list have been copied on this message which went out earlier this week, so please let me forward it to our membership. Plan is for the KRING to hold a two-hour workshop as a follow-up to IM2024 as we discussed at the IM on this coming Sunday 23 Feb during the following times:
Sunday 23 February 18:00 to 20.00 hour CET, (Amsterdam time), so we start at 17:00 UTC, 13:00 EDT, 10:00 PDT and for Eastern Australia (AEDT) Monday 5:00.
Please respond to Karl Kleine directly Kleine, Karl at Karl.Kleine@eah-jena.de if you are interested as soon as possible and you will be sent a ZOOM link for the meeting.
DETAILS:
During the Virtual International Meeting 2024, we - as KRING - proposed to initiate a WORKSHOP SLIDE RULES in between the International Meetings, in the beginning of the year 2025, with the purpose to meet each other on an international scale and have Slide Rule discussions. The intention is to discuss technical items during this WORKSHOP of about 2 hours. General items can be discussed during the yearly International Meetings.
Most, or all, of us have one or more Slide Rules or Slide Charts which cannot be identified by Brand, Manufacturer, Distributor, or aspects as purpose, strange scales, etc. This WORKSHOP opens the possibility to ask fellow collectors to help you with these questions
The 2-hour WORKSHOP is planned on Sunday 23 February 18:00 to 20.00 hour CET, (Amsterdam time), so we start at 17:00 UTC, 13:00 EDT, 10:00 PDT and for Eastern Australia (AEDT) Monday 5:00.
You are welcome to take a photo of your UNKNOWN slide rules, and send it to info@rekeninstrumenten.nl<mailto:info@rekeninstrumenten.nl> before 20 February. We will collect all these UNKNOWN Slide Rules on a page on our website: https://www.rekeninstrumenten.nl/workshop<https://www.rekeninstrumenten.nl/workshop/> This page already includes some unknowns, so you can look at them before the meeting, to see if you can help to answer the questions.
During the WORKSHOP the owner of the unknown item explains his questions. Your international colleague collectors will help you answering your questions. Some answers could be very simple, just because a fellow collector knows about it
Please let us know before 22 February if you are interested to participate. We will then submit you the Zoom link a few days before the meeting.
To all country organizations: Please distribute this Announcement in short term to your members and others who could have been interested.

Muy bonita, compacta y potente.
Las escalas Sq1,Sq2 debieron ser apreciadas en muchos campos (ni que decir ya las W1,W2 de Faber ¿y algún otro fabricante?).

Hola Acabemos el año viendo esta regla francesa rara, según Daniel, utilizada para los cálculos de trabajo de las máquinas herramientas. Es cierto Gonzalo que llevamos tiempo con la visita a Pamplona. Sabes que serás muy bienvenido.
Incluso comentamos hace años con Jorge la posibilidad de hacer una Rifarca en Pamplona (cuando las hacíamos en el entorno de estas fechas).

Hola a todos:
Acabo de ver el chat. Me alegro, MAAG57, que te haya gustado la exposición. Imagino que Carlos Abelleira (cac) también la habrá visitado.
Siento no haberme enterado de vuestra visita al edificio El Sario de la Universidad Pública de Navarra (Upna). Me hubiese gustado acompañaros y hacer de guía en esas visitas. Y ver con detalle las diferentes vitrinas, los paneles explicativos (situados detrás) y los aparatos simulados que se pueden activar en el ordenador de la exposición.
Si alguien más pasa por Pamplona y se anima a visitar la exposición, que no dude en avisarme. Lo puede hacer a través del teléfono de Actividades Culturales de la Upna, 948-168408. O de mi número de móvil 609-406790. Será un placer acompañaros.

hola El ingeniero de montes Fernando Baró modificó y mejoró en 1913 la regla de cálculo forestal del francés Montrichard https://photocalcul.com/Calcul/Regles/Collection_Etienne_Sigismond/regle_Daniel_TGCubage/regleTavernierCubage.htmlSu utilidad era la siguiente, según el libro “Fernando Baró Zorrilla” de Ignacio Perez-Soba: La regla servía para cubicación de rollizos, tanto para árboles en pie (conociendo su coeficiente mórfico), como para árboles apeados (usando las fórmulas más normales de cubicación, como las de Newton, Simony, Schiffel o la fórmula comercial); a la inversa, servía para calcular coeficientes mórfi cos; para la determinación del área descortezable de un árbol; y claro está, para cubicar piezas escuadradas. En general, de hecho, servía para calcular el volumen de un sólido cualquiera de revolución. No tengo muy claro su uso, el aprovechamiento de la madera de troncos tiene muchos muchos bemoles... Por aqui (aún hoy) ni siquiera se usan unidades métricas en el mercado maderero...
Habrá que ir a ver el libro citado por Gonzalo...
Por otro lado, a Papá Noel "no le gusta" Barcinar... y los Reyes Magos lo declararon "persona no grata"...
