And then, after this recall of that successful and joyful meeting in Berlin, there is the bad and sad news, that Klaus Krämer is not among us any more. On nov. 26th, he had his 70th anniversary. Next day, the 27th, he left home to give his weekly lecture for EE students at Berlin Technical University. Still in the building, on his way down the stairs he had a heart attack and died. It happened suddenly, quickly, and totally unexpected.
Klaus was an electrical engineer, and he worked for most of his life on a number of unique problems in providing electrical power to the island of Berlin. Later it was the integration of Berlin in the German and European power grid, and then the setup of trading of power capacities. Even after his retirement from BEWAG / Vattenfall, he was a sought expert on electrical energy and worked as consultant and lobbyist, both in Berlin and in Brussels. He also gave courses at Berlin Technical University. Next to that, he founded together with a number of collegues from earlier years at BEWAG, the former Berlin power authority, the Energie-Museum in Berlin. In recent years he served as chairman (and head custodian) of the museum association. [see also
